The Maine State Museum is committed to helping educate and inspire home school students. Rich learning opportunities for home schooled students are available through the museum’s full schedule of programs and tour and are tailored by grade/age level. These dynamic programs and tours take place among the exhibits and feature inquiry-based discussions, in-depth focus on artifacts and specimens, and promote a spirit of inquiry and critical thinking. All gallery programs and tours are 30 minutes in length and there is a maximum of 15 people per program. There are no admission or program charges for home school groups. Advanced reservations are encouraged for gallery programs and tours, but home school families and groups are welcome in the museum for self-guided tours any time after signing–in at the front desk.
