Museum Moments: The Spear Mill

One of the really cool things about our Made in Maine exhibit is our water-powered mill. This is the Spear sawmill built in Warren, Maine, in 1764. In the 1980’s when the Museum was constructing the Made in Maine exhibit, the Spear Mill was in Warren, but the building was falling apart around it. Museum staff were able to take apart the Spear Mill and then reassemble it piece by piece as an actual part of the museum!
